

TARA RANDIS, MD
Dr Tara M. Randis is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics, Molecular Medicine and Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of South Florida, Chief of the Division of Neonatology, and Vice Chair of Research for the Department of Pediatrics. She completed her residency training at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, Philadelphia, before pursing her fellowship training in neonatal-perinatal medicine at Columbia University. In 2011, she earned a MS degree in biostatistics from the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University.

Her research efforts have focused on the mechanisms of bacterial colonization of the female reproductive tract as it relates to adverse pregnancy outcomes including intraamniotic infection, preterm labor, and neonatal sepsis. Her laboratory is currently investigating novel strategies for prevention of Group B Streptococcal disease in the vulnerable neonatal host. She is passionate about mentoring medical residents and fellows as well as doctoral candidates in the basic sciences. Dr. Randis is an active member of the American Pediatric Society and Society for Pediatric Research (SPR). She served as a Council Member for the Perinatal Research Society (2021-2023) and is currently a member of the Pediatrics Academic Societies Meeting Planning Committee. She joined Southern SPR in 2020 when she relocated her laboratory to the University of South Florida and has enjoyed participating annual meetings both as a session moderator and as judge to assist with selection of the Basic Science Young Investigator Award. She was elected council member in 2023 and has focused her efforts on recruitment of new members.
